At Bottarga, hospitality is at the heart of everything we do. We began on Martin Street with fewer than twenty seats in a completely open kitchen — just the two of us, Federico in the kitchen and Somi in the front. From those intimate beginnings, Bottarga has grown into a bold new chapter. As we move to Bay Street, into a slightly larger and more considered space, our vision expands — but our soul remains the same: intimate, warm, and quietly refined.

Bottarga is not just another restaurant; it is a personal and unrepeatable experience. We are not trying to be “fine dining” in the distant, unapproachable sense. Instead, we are honest and grounded — sourcing with intention, cooking with precision, and serving with warmth. We want our guests to feel as though they are entering our home: Somi welcoming and guiding you through the evening, Federico creating each dish with care, and our team ensuring the atmosphere is genuine, comfortable, and unforgettable.

Our aim is simple — to create memories that linger, a sense of nostalgia, and a feeling of belonging. It is hospitality that leaves an impression long after the last glass is poured.

Bottarga is a couple-run restaurant, built on passion, experience, and a shared dream. Federico brings over a decade of culinary craft — from Vue de Monde to Matteo’s and Scopri — to each nostalgic, heart-led plate. Somi, with a lifelong love of hospitality and deep knowledge in wine, curates each guest experience with intentional care and warm professionalism. Together, we do it all — from plating to wine selection and everything in between — to create something authentic, one guest at a time.

Our offering includes a curated selection of wines, spirits, cocktails, aperitivi, and non-alcoholic beverages designed to complement your meal.

Our award-winning wine list — recognised by Wine Spectator (2024 & 2025) and the Australian Wine List of the Year Awards (Two Glass Award, 2024 & 2025) — showcases refined, expressive wines from both local and international producers.

A reflection of our ongoing commitment to quality, craftsmanship, and the art of dining.

Acknowledgement of Country

We acknowledge the Boon Wurrung (Bunurong) people of the Kulin Nation, the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we gather, create, and share. We pay our deepest respects to Elders past, present, and emerging. This land always was, and always will be, First Nations land.

As immigrants, we are grateful to live, work, and build our lives on this Country. We honour the generosity of the land, the stories it holds, and the opportunity it gives us to share food, culture, and connection. It is a privilege to be here, and we are proud to contribute our part while respecting the First Nations people who have cared for this place for tens of thousands of years.
