While Bottarga is a fully licensed restaurant with an extensive in-house wine list, we also understand the joy of sharing a cherished bottle of wine. For that reason, we offer the option to bring your own bottle on weekdays (Tuesday to Thursday), allowing you to pair it with our dishes and create unforgettable moments. MEET THE FOUNDER
Bottarga is a family-run restaurant built on experience, heart, and a shared dream. Just two people—Federico in the kitchen, Sommi at the front—doing what we love every day.

Kitchen – Federico
Federico is the soul of our kitchen, with over a decade of experience in some of Melbourne’s top restaurants, including Vue de Monde, Rosetta, and Scopri. A graduate of William Angliss and a former protégé of Shannon Bennett, Federico brings precision, creativity, and warmth to every plate. At Bottarga, he finally has full creative freedom to cook from the heart—focused on simplicity, flavour, and nostalgia.
Front of House – Sommi
Somi has lived and breathed hospitality since childhood, helping run her family’s restaurant and later opening her own café, Kaizen Coffee Co., in Bangkok at just 23. With years of hands-on experience in Melbourne’s dining scene and a deep love for wine (WSET Level 3 certified), she curates every guest experience with warmth, care, and quiet excellence.
Together, we do it all—from prep and service to wine selection and cleanup. There’s no big team, no investors—just the two of us, building something real, one guest at a time.
